Snotling Pump Wagon!

Another classic old model. I had an Orc and Goblin army many years ago when I used to play Warhammer Fantasy Battle with friends, but I never had the Snotling pump wagon. I always loved the craziness and rickety, ramshackle character of the model, so some years ago I bought one from ebay. Recently I got around to finishing it.

I wanted to capture the feeling of speed and how it is almost out of control, so I positioned the model like it had just gone over a bump. I tried to make it look like the Snotlings are hanging on for dear life, not always easy to convey with the models available!

I also put ruts in mud on the base to give it a sense of racing along.

Orc War Wyvern

Haven't posted anything on here for a while! Lockdown has meant I have got back into painting again. For some reason I started with really old models!

Anyway, here is a wyvern. It's the old GW Orc War Wyvern, I think was called Polly in the story on the back the box.
I converted it from it's static pose to one with a bit more movement to it. Wasn't sure what colour to paint it and eventually settled on blue as it's a different colour to all the orc's green skins. I think a blue wyvern looks ok? I may or may not add the orc rider later, perhaps use magnets so I have the option.

7TV Garth Marenghi's Darkplace Programme Guide

I've been meaning to make a cast for Garth Marenghi's Darkplace for sometime. I've always thought 7TV 2ed was the perfect rules for Garth Marenghi, funny yet action packed.

Any feedback on stats, balancing, theme, or suggestions on Special Effects is very welcome. I'm still a bit new to the 2ed rules. I'll try and post the miniatures I use soon.

Necromunda Van Saar gang painting

Working on some Necromunda models. Fancied trying to make a Van Saar gang look... good. Van Saars have some of the geekiest looking models, sporting mullets, curly moustaches and beards. I've heard them described as 'Ned Flanders' looking.

First I had to decide on a colour scheme for the gang. Everything in Warhammer 40k is grim dark, and most of the models I've seen other people paint are dark colours, and all one colour, no variation. So I hit upon the idea of white, grey and orange. A very popular mix of colours used in a lot of sci fi nowadays (District 9, Mass Effect, Destiny).

So here is my first attempt:

Not finished yet. Just basic colours really. Needs some highlights and weathering but its getting there.

Then I wanted my Van Saar to be a bit techy. Like the old Tech gangs from Confrontation. I saw this picture in the rule book and had a go at creating a model from it. Again needs some finishing off.

Goblin Battle Charriots

These came in a box called Goblin Battle Chariots and the Goblin hero in the back was called Odbod Dogbreath.  I love the stories that used to be on the back of the boxes back in the day.

The models are still a bit 'work in progress'. Almost there. The whips are made from guitar string. One needs a handle made from green stuff. I had lost the scythes from one chariot, but managed to find a pair on ebay. I've glued them on but they need painting. I wanted a rusty look to armour and metals and added that in places. Kept the colours muted and earthy.

I started by painting the wolves. Instead of just painting them grey and dry brushing them, I looked online for wolf photos and tried to paint the patterns and colours that real wolves are. 

I did the base last. Just PVA and sand. I tried to leave rutts from where the wheels passed at the back of the chariot. Its more noticeable on the second chariots base. 

I don't like how the bases have turned out right now. I think the models looked better before i did the bases! I plan to add grass tufts and/or static grass.

Necromunda Scalies

Well it's been a while since my last post. Lots things things going on in real life and not much time on the hobby. But now things have settled I can once again get back to painting and playing games.

First up are two Necromunda Scaly models for my scavvy gang. Great models to paint, nice and chuny with lots of detail and character. My photos don't really show the variations in the green skin tones though. 

Trying to think up names for them, maybe Dave and Not Dave?

Pretty much finished, just need to finish the bases by adding a few grass tufts etc.
